It's the beginning things are in bloom You can forget all the sad things they assigned to you Now that time has restarted We can live by the moon And you can relearn how to be a fool It would be wise It would be kind To freak yourself out To part with your mind Now I won't worry any more about the part I played before Something's changing all around me This was once all Such a bore Now I can leave my body Though I'm still alive Project my dreams Reach the other side It would be wise It would be kind To freak yourself out To part with your mind Now I won't worry any more about the part I played before Something's changing all around me I decided to part with my mind Take it a part I won't mind

I'm so good to me I'm so good to me I'm so good to me I'm so good to me My window wasn't made for looking at you I like to go outside and grow my own view I like the shape of the vines I like the way that they wind You want to cut 'em down but I won't change my mind Yeah I love it when you're here with me Yeah I love it when you're home Yeah I love it when you're holding me But, I'm okay being alone I'm so good to me I'm so good to me I'm so good to me I'm so good to me No I don't think it's a waste to wear perfume to bed I'll have beautiful dreams make my own world in my head I sleep so soundly when I'm all on my own I feel so safe and secure because I know I am my own true home Yeah I love it when you're here with me Yeah I love it when you're home Yeah I love it when you're holding me But, I'm okay being alone I'm so good to me I'm so good to me I'm so good to me I'm so good to me And my love it will not stop And my love it will not stop But, I'm okay alone Yeah, I'm okay alone

Dream, dream, dream, dream Dream, dream, dream, dream When I want you in my arms When I want you and all your charms Whenever I want you, all I have to do is Dream, dream, dream, dream When I feel blue in the night And I need you to hold me tight Whenever I want you, all I have to do is Dream I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine Anytime night or day Only trouble is, gee whiz I'm dreamin' my life away I need you so that I could die I love you so and that is why Whenever I want you, all I have to do is Dream, dream, dream, dream Dream I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine Anytime night or day Only trouble is, gee whiz I'm dreamin' my life away I need you so that I could die I love you so and that is why Whenever I want you, all I have to do is Dream, dream, dream, dream Dream, dream, dream, dream

Stay Alone 02:48
I can't believe already I'm dreaming about staying alone Cutting out a cancer before it ever grows I could drive my body deep down in the ground No one there would see me And you won't be around Oh, I'd rather stay alone Oh, I'm better on my own I used to view my bruises like they were all divine Licking all your wounds, never noticing mine I used to say I'm sorry like breathing in the air Closed my eyes to everything, but now I like to stare Oh, I'd rather stay alone Oh, I'm better on my own Oh, I'd rather stay alone Oh, I'm better on my own Oh, I'd rather stay alone Oh, I'm better on my own And you don't know how much I've grown Oh, I'd rather stay alone

about

“I've been singing for my whole life. It's been the only constant for me. It's how I express my truth, and my favorite thing to do. But, somewhere along the way, I started to wonder if I was doing it right or if it even mattered at all. When Kyle and I started to make music together, he had this funny way of reminding me who I was. He kept telling me, "You're a firecracker. Stop pretending to be so nice all the time. When are we starting a garage rock band?" My friend saw a freedom in me and my music that I didn't see yet. It's my privilege to make music with Kyle Lacy who is now my family. This album is about trying new things. I never knew I'd start a rock band! But, here we are, and it feels pretty good. These songs are about loving yourself, no matter what, and not shying away from new experiences and solitude. These songs are dedicated to my friends and musical community who create so much joy in the world. I hope these songs make you smile. Be free and full of love!” xx Mel

“When Mel approached me to work on her new songs, at first I was going to play drums. Then after a long day of busking in union square (back at Christmas time when no one had any gigs!) I came home and just put on Green Day and rocked out on guitar in my living room like a kid again. I had the realization that the best rock’n’roll just makes you feel free. And Mel’s music does that. It shakes you to your core. That’s why I knew we had to start a rock band. After I told her what I thought, it all started falling into place. We both started digging into the bands that made us love rock as teenagers: The White Stripes, Jet, The Raconteurs, The Hives. When we started mining that inspiration we found a deeper level of connection with each other and with the band and our friends. We were free to explore a new depth of emotion. I can’t wait for the next round.” <3 Kyle
